Private visa


To apply for a PRIVATE VISA, you must have LETTER OF INVITATION (LOI) issued by Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation  at the request of a Russian individual or Russia’s Permanent Resident.

Please ask your partner in Russia to obtain and send a copy of LOI to you by email.

 The LOI can be submitted in either copy or original. The LOI can also be issued in a form of TELEX. In this case your employer in Russia needs to provide you with telex number.

 Please note that Russian individuals can enjoy simplified procedure to arrange 
Personal Invitation Letter for their co-traveling spouse or minor children below age of 18. Russian spouse or parent will need to visit our Visa Centre with valid Russian passport and original Marriage Certificate or Child’s Birth Certificate* to sign Personal Invitation Letter. Processing time for co-traveler visa is 6-20 working days.

 *Certificates issued by authorities other than Soviet Union or Russian Federation must have notarized Russian translation and be legalized or have Apostille where applicable.

 Please note that Russian individuals who invite American citizens can enjoy simplified procedure under 
Russia-USA Visa Agreement : they need to fill in Personal Invitation Letter, sign and have it certified by any Russian Notary Public or Russian Consul and send the original to American applicant for submission. Processing time for such visas is 13 working days.

 Please note that nationals of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, who have long-term (more than 90 days) stay permit in Russia, can arrange under respective 
Visa Agreements for their close relatives (spouses, children, parents, grandparents and grandchildren) – nationals of the above-mentioned countries Personal Invitation Letter. Processing time for such visas is 6 working days

 Please note that nationals of Japan, who have long-term (more than 90 days) stay permit in Russia, can arrange under Visa Agreement with Russia Personal Invitation Letter, certified by any Russian Notary Public or Russian Consul, for their spouses and children below age of 21 – nationals of Japan. Processing time for such visas is 6 working days.

Your LETTER OF INVITATION defines:    

  •  The name and address of your visa sponsor in Russia which you will need to indicate as your Host when filling in online visa application form.
  •  The date of entry to Russia and the date of exit from Russia. You may enter Russia on or after the date indicated in your visa and leave Russia on or before the date indicated in your visa;
  • The number of entries to Russia – it can be one (for single trip) or two entries (for double trip). Currently, only American citizens are entitled to apply with Personal Invitation Letter for Multiple Entry Private visas according to the Visa Agreement with Russia;
  • The length of your stay in Russia, which cannot be more than 90 days (except for Multiple Entry Private visas issued to Americans with allowed stay for up to 6 months according to the Visa Agreement with Russia).

Besides, regardless of the visa type the following documents must be submitted to the Consular Section:

1.Completed visa application form signed by the Applicant only https://visa.kdmid.ru/.

      2. Valid national passport (valid for no less than 6 month before the end of the visa period) 

   3. For Non-Singaporeans – valid Singapore Employment Pass or other Visit Pass/Permanent Resident Identification Card/Disembarkation Card: original AND photocopy.

      4. One 3,5x4,5 color picture of an applicant.

5. Travel insurance for the citizens of European Union for the full duration of your stay in Russia.
