Statement of the Russian Embassy to the Republic of Singapore (June 30, 2022)

According to our information, Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad, including in Singapore, received instructions from Kiev to mobilize members of the Ukrainian diaspora to join hostilities in Ukraine.

Therefore, it is expected that the Ukrainian Embassy in Singapore would attempt to contact MFA and ICA as well as public and private companies where Ukrainians are employed, seeking assistance in recruiting its citizens.

The refusal to provide it will be treated by Kiev as an unfriendly step that could potentially trigger sanctions, including against companies refusing to release their staff. Ukraine would endeavor to demonstrate the significance of its actions, coordinated with the “collective West”, in futile attempts to counteract the special military operation of Russia. Cases of explicit blackmail and threats should not also be ruled out.

We warn against such intentions of the Ukrainian Embassy, which are aimed at dragging Singapore into the conflict started by Kiev, inciting confrontation with inevitable damage to Russia-Singapore ties.
