Attention!
If your passport with a valid Russian visa was canceled or damaged, the Russian border authorities will not let you cross the Russian state border even if you have a new valid passport together with the old one.
In this regard, and in order to avoid conflicts at the border, foreign citizens need to transfer a visa from a canceled passport to a new one at any diplomatic or consular mission of the Russian Federation well in advance of a trip to Russia. Detailed information on the procedure is available here:
